Job Description:

Provide management, leadership, and direction to Supervisors and employees.  Ensure that company policies, practices, and related actions are consistently applied on all shifts by working with shift Supervisors and others within company as needed.  Spearhead activities to ensure manufacturing goals and targets for Safety, Quality, Cost, and Time are achieved in accordance with the company Business Plan.  Coordinate and integrate activities across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

KPI's (Key Performance Indicators)

  • Maintain a Safe work environment at all times, ensuring that all Safety rules and procedure are followed.  Report and follow-up on all Safety incidents as well as preventive actions needed.
  • Demonstrate an enthusiastic, hands-on approach to managing daily operations, taking actions necessary to ensure that product is progressing through manufacturing on-schedule.
  • Review capacity constraints with Supervisors daily to ensure that they are moving work and/or labor to the appropriate Work Centers to meet scheduled work order due dates.  Specifically, balance operations as needed to meet delivery requirements.
  • Maintain and review relevant reports.  Take actions necessary based on the information.  This includes communication and coordination with all shifts and departments regarding operational, maintenance, or other issues.
  • Facilitate maximum efficiency and productivity of Supervisors, production employees, and manufacturing processes through regular reviews and feedback.
  • Drive continuous improvement through review and analysis of production operations, processes, and systems to determine causes of Quality nonconformities and other production problems, then urgently implementing corrective actions.
  • Evaluate customer complaints and/or product returns to understand if they are valid.  If they resulted from a failure in Manufacturing, determine root cause(s) and implement effective, robust counter-measures.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

Employees

  • Provide management direction to Supervisors and employees in the building.  This includes providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring as opportunities arise.
  • Review employee evaluations to ensure that the evaluations and associated pay increases are administered consistently and on time.
  • Ensure that disciplinary actions and documentation for Safety, Scrap, Attendance, and Productivity are completed consistently and on-schedule.

                                 

Other Job Skills

  • Experience as a Plant Supervisor, Superintendent, or equivalent leadership experience with direct responsibility for oversight and management of employees and all aspects of industrial manufacturing operations.
  • Must be a driven, highly motivated, shop floor individual with an attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: must be able to interact effectively with other Superintendents, Supervisors, employees, and other departments as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point); ERP systems a plus.
  • Experience in the use of precision measuring devices (scales, calipers, gages, etc.) including interpretation of results.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints, sketches, or other descriptions of parts to be fabricated, and to determine if a part meets required Quality criteria.  
  • Effective problem-solving skills; must demonstrate the ability and initiative to quickly analyze and understand situations, taking appropriate, decisive action as needed.
  • Effective time management skills; must demonstrate the ability to meet production and other deadlines as well as managing their personal time effectively.
  • Experience with precision machining processes preferred; includes soft turning, lathes, mills, and surface grinding.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree a plus
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques a plus (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Visual Management, others).

Education:  Associates or Bachelor's Degree a plus.

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) will be responsible for the successful servicing of customer orders. Responsibilities include receiving, processing, interpreting, and resolving all incoming order requests and order-related inquiries. This is a hybrid role with time in the office and work from home.

Leading international manufacturer of tools and tooling components for the metal stamping and plastic molding industries has an opening for a degreed Manufacturing Engineer.

Job Purpose:  This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and improving manufacturing processes in a machining environment.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Prepare capital expenditure requests, including financial justification and presentation to management.
  2. Implement capital equipment and facilities projects within budget and time constraints, including development of detailed project plans and schedules as well as designs for equipment layout, product workflow, and maximum utilization of workspace.
  3. Work with suppliers and internal resources to design and improve machining processes, both for existing product lines and for new product introductions.
  4. Design and coordinate fabrication of fixturing, gaging, and tooling for new and existing processes.
  5. Work with global company locations to share and adopt best-practice processes and methods, including transfer of turnkey processes.
  6. Provide technical support to ongoing production operations at Dayton, Ohio plant, as well as at other company locations as needed (processes include conventional and CNC turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and EDM).
  7. Utilize Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement concepts, including 5S, Standard Work, and SMED to eliminate waste and reduce product cost.
  8. Direct and/or oversee all assigned projects and other activities, taking an enthusiastic, hands-on role to planning, execution, and follow-up.
  9. Must be willing to problem solve in a production environment
  10. Analyze and process Engineering Change Requests / Notifications and employee suggestions.
  11. When planning for, setting up, and starting up new equipment and processes, work with Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement Group, and Quality to develop a fully engineered process with consideration for all aspects of processes and methods, maximizing results for Quality, Cost, and Time.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
  2. 3+ years of strong, proven, shop floor experience in a machining environment.
  3. Direct experience with CNC machining equipment.
  4. AutoCad, Siemens NX, or similar CAD/CAM experience is a required.
  5. Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and strong analytical capabilities required.
  6. Must be willing to travel occasionally to Asia for extended periods (total travel <10%).
  7. Japanese language skills are a plus.
  8. Experience with Kaizen and other Continuous Improvement techniques is a plus.
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  10. CNC machine programming experience is a plus.
  11. Must demonstrate enthusiasm, passion, and a sense of urgency along with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
